Ever thought you’d find the ruins of an ancient Roman temple in the heart of London? Yeah maybe you did. But I’d bet you didn’t think you’d find one that was used by a cult!

That’s right! In the heart of the City of London Borough, practically seconds from Canon Street Station, you’ll find the London Mithraeum, where, it is believed, that a group of Romans worshiped the deity; “Mithras”
In the Bloomberg owned exhibition space based around the temple, you can find many artifacts found in the ruins, learn about the little that is known about the worshipers, and then go into the ruins themselves where you’ll be shown how the ceremonies may (alot is still a mystery) have went, complete with a tidy light show.
Best of all, like so many London gems, it’s entirely free.
