Uncover the Underground Art of Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel in London

One of London’s less “hidden” hidden gems, Leake Street’s Graffiti Tunnel is still very overlooked considering just how extremely touristy it’s surroundings are.

It’s exactly what it sounds like; a tunnel covered in graffiti. Located directly under Waterloo station, you can hear the trains rumbling as they depart the station just meters above your head.

The tunnel’s street art is constantly changing, and you can often watch the graffiti artists at work with their masks and spray cans. Graffiti is not only legal in the tunnel, but actively encouraged! Bring your own cans if you know how!

Besides the bright art, the tunnel is home to a few cool pubs, including an old favourite of mine: Droughts, where you chooses from an overwhelmingly large collection of board games to challenge your friends at while sipping your pint.

Where: Leake Street, directly under Waterloo Station.

When: The tunnel is open from 11 am (10 am on Sat/Sun and 12 pm on Mondays), until 12 am (1 am on Saturdays).

Nearby attractions: The tunnel is just minutes away from tourist hotspots such as the London Eye, the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben), the London Aquarium, and London Dungeons A lesser known nearby attraction is the Florence Nightingale Museum.
